2. The first time Lina gave an MUN speech was in the 7th grade. She stood in front of her committee, paper in hand, shaking with nerves from head to toe. Today, a junior in high school and an experienced delegate, Lina no longer experiences the nerves that come before a speech or the endless stutter that follow through. This is the true testament of how MUN can change you as a person. Through this club, she became a diligent researcher, avid debater, and confident person. From the delegate perspective, she understands how critical a chair is to the committee, for they can literally make or break the experience. As such, she hopes to make the committee a positive experience for all. Her endless dedication to MUN has shaped not only her public speaking skills, but also her ability to think critically under pressure and approach global issues with nuance and empathy. Through countless conferences, she has learned that MUN is not just about awards, but about collaboration, diplomacy, and understanding perspectives different from one’s own. It has taught her resilience, leadership, and the value of preparation, lessons that extend far beyond the committee room.
