GA1 Chair 1

Yousif Thamir

Committee Chair

Yousif Alkasab is a junior in high school, and one of AMSIMUN's chairs this year. Yousif’s love for MUN started in the ninth grade after being convinced to give it a try by his brother. Yousifs use of logic and reasoning combined with his love for history and geopolitics lead to him winning 4 best delegate awards across universities and schools alike. Having lead clubs in school since the ninth grade, Yousif is no stranger to keeping a committee smooth and looks forward to chairing the GA1!

GA1 Chair 2

Zinah Al Najjar

Committee Chair

3. Zinah began her Model United Nations journey in the seventh grade. Initially, she was intimidated by the formal setting; however, she gradually gained confidence through consistent participation and preparation. With each conference she attended, her interest in debate and diplomacy increased, developing a genuine passion for MUN. Over time, MUN strengthened her public speaking, research, critical thinking, and negotiation skills, while deepening her understanding of global issues. She looks forward to an exciting and fruitful AMSIMUN conference this year.

GA1 Chair 3

Lina Gazar

Committee Chair

2. The first time Lina gave an MUN speech was in the 7th grade. She stood in front of her committee, paper in hand, shaking with nerves from head to toe. Today, a junior in high school and an experienced delegate, Lina no longer experiences the nerves that come before a speech or the endless stutter that follow through. This is the true testament of how MUN can change you as a person. Through this club, she became a diligent researcher, avid debater, and confident person. From the delegate perspective, she understands how critical a chair is to the committee, for they can literally make or break the experience. As such, she hopes to make the committee a positive experience for all. Her endless dedication to MUN has shaped not only her public speaking skills, but also her ability to think critically under pressure and approach global issues with nuance and empathy. Through countless conferences, she has learned that MUN is not just about awards, but about collaboration, diplomacy, and understanding perspectives different from one’s own. It has taught her resilience, leadership, and the value of preparation, lessons that extend far beyond the committee room.
