Arab League (ENG) Chair 1

Lamar Abbas

Committee Chair

2. Lamar, a junior at Al Mawakeb Garhoud, is honored to be serving as a Chair for this year’s conference. But, she promises she’s not as scary as the title sounds. Model United Nations has been one of the most rewarding parts of her journey. Not just because of the debates and resolutions, but because of the memories that came with them. Outside of MUN, you’ll probably find her baking (and most likely almost burning the house down in the process), or somehow managing to fall asleep anywhere, at any time. She strongly believes that personality matters just as much as position papers, and that the best committees are the ones where delegates feel confident enough to speak up, take risks, and maybe even cause a little diplomatic chaos ( the constructive kind…of course). Lamar is really looking forward to meeting all of you and seeing the creativity, diplomacy, and passion you bring to committee. Bring your diplomacy. Bring your confidence. Bring your best arguments. And maybe bring snacks.

Arab League (ENG) Chair 2

Taya Thkaha

Committee Chair

1. Taya began her MUN journey 4 years ago in an audition to be accepted into the club. Prior to that audition, Taya knew nothing. She didn’t know what a moderated caucus was, she didn’t know how to write a position paper, and she didn’t know what a resolution paper was. But as she attended conference after conference, attending not as only a delegate, but sometimes as a chair, Taya’s passion for MUN grew, her knowledge expanded, and her skills enhanced. As someone who has now attended 18 conferences with AMSIMUN being the 19th, Taya believes that one of the best decisions she made as a freshman was to apply for the MUN club and test her luck. With that being said, Taya is looking forward to chairing the Arab League committee and hopes to see you all soon!
